Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today during opening times:

Routine appointments

Information:

Appointments are available with the doctors from 8:45am to 6pm.

Nurse appointments are available between the hours of 8:45am and 8:30pm.

Appointments will be offered on a first come, first served basis each day.

If there are no face to face appointments available, a telephone consultation will be offered for emergencies or for especially vulnerable patients. If the doctor considers it necessary after this conversation, patients will be asked to visit the practice for a face to face emergency appointment on the day.

A small number of appointments can be pre-booked.

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:

Telephone advice

If you wish to speak to a doctor or nurse, please phone the surgery on 01332 360 692 during practice working hours to leave your details. Reception staff will advise you on when a clinician will ring you back.

You can also leave your details on our voicemail system without having to queue on the telephone.

Text message reminders

Worried about forgetting your appointment? Need some help to remind you?

You can now receive free appointment reminders by text for you and your family.

Please let reception staff know your name, date of birth and mobile number and we will be pleased to set this up for you. Don’t forget to tell us if you change your mobile number in future. If you wish to register for this service please let us know.

Being late to your appointment

As there is a high demand for appointments, if you are more than 10 minutes late for your doctor’s appointment, or more than 5 minutes late for your nurse’s appointment, you will not be seen.

We are hoping that this will make our service more responsive and also reduce the waste from those patients who book an appointment but then do not attend.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

If you require a home visit please phone reception on 01332 360 692 before 10am.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice. If it is more appropriate to send a nurse, this can be arranged; if it is a more serious matter we may need to arrange a hospital appointment.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the practice.
